Hoof Prints on the State Capitol Lawn!

Hoof prints on the Capitol Lawn!  Blog_ag_day_011

On March 25th I had the honor of representing the sport of Rodeo at the state Capitol!

'Ag Day' is an annual event held on the West lawn of the Capitol!  Attended by many influential government personnel such as assemblymen, state staffers, the secretary of agriculture, and even a visit by our very own Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In attendance there were many exhibits, all of which represented and promoted some asset of California agriculture.  Honey bees, Cattle Council, flowers, fruits, vegetables, milk and many other California grown products were on site.  I had the honor of working with P.R.C.A lobbyist Bob Fox and his wife Norma in preparation and during this event to promote the sport of Rodeo and our equestrian lifestyle.  Cotton Rosser, and members of the Flying U Rodeo Co., Britain Thomas Miss Rodeo Marysville, as well as Baxter Black the bucking stock horse were back for another year at the event!

On the Streets of Bakersfield...With the Kern County Sheriff's Mounted Posse

Blog_bield_032 Well, we were not exactly on the streets of Bakersfield!  But everytime I come to visit I can't help but to notice Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, and then his famous tune "On the Streets of Bakersfield" comes alive!

In 2006 I had the privelege of representing the Bakersfield Stampede Days Rodeo, and traveling with the Kern County Sheriff's Mounted Posse.  Since being a part of that group, Bakersfield has felt like home!  So I was honored that the Posse coordinated a benefit dinner and auction to raise funds for my quest in representing California at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant next December!  From tickets, to auction items, to beautiful flower center pieces, to location, to tasty meals, to music the Posse created an amazing event!  My family and I enjoyed every moment of our time!  Thank You to every one who attended the event!  I cannot say thank you enough to the members of the Posse, their wife counter parts, the pageant Directors, and friends for all of your support!  Thank You, and I can't wait to visit "The Streets of Bakersfield" again!

Queens in Livermore!

Blog_pics_livermore_228 Six beautiful young ladies competed for the chance to represent the Livermore Rodeo, as Jr. Miss Rodeo Livermore 2008!  The pageant started off with a morning meet and greet around tables full of pasteries and fresh fruit!  From there, the pageant progressed to the horsemanship portion of competition, where each girl displayed her riding ability by completing a designated pattern and presentation wave!  We left the shade of the covered arena, and went behind closed doors for personal interviews.  After much preparartion and a lot of hard work the judged portion of the pageant was complete!  Congratulations to each young lady I had the chance to meet, all of you displayed a true love, and apperciation for the sport of Rodeo!  Brittany the 2007 Jr. Miss Rodeo Livermore did a great job this past year and handed down her crown to Bailey N Castello.  My visit to Livermore proved to be a great one, and I hope to visit the town and everyone I spent time with again!

Celebrating Valentines Day at the Veterans Hospital!

100_0208 Surrounded by many enthusatstic volunteers I had the chance to attend the annual Valentines Day Celebration at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital!  The day was not complete without roses, the exchange of Valentine cards, balloons, and the noticable amount of pink, red, and white!  It was impressing to see the turnout of dedicated people who took time from their day, to create a special holiday for our Veterans, many of whom are far from family and friends.  I was honored to join are service men, and women, past olympians, celebraties, and a whole room full of caring people at this annual event!  Thank You to the Men and Women who serve this great Nation!

The Rancho Cucamonga City Council acknowledged my role as Miss Rodeo California 2008.  I was accompanied to the civic meeting by family and friends, all of whom are very supportive in my efforts to represent the sport of Professional Rodeo and the preservation of the equestrian lifestyle!  We took a moment to pose outside the chamber halls for a picture.

With some of my pals, Young Miss Rodeo Norco Mounted Posse, Raychell' Ochoa, and Little Miss Queen Aubree Shackleford!  All smiles for the kick-off of this years' Pageant.

The Norco Mounted Posse is a wonderful group of dedicated people.  I have been honored to work with them, and be a part of the annual P.R.C.A Rodeo.  I cannot wait to be a part of the tradition again this year!  Good Luck to all of the young ladies who will be competing in the coming pageant!
